Good Shepherd Ministries

The Good Shepherd Center feeds the hungry, shelters the homeless and helps transition those in crisis to independence in the community. They work to solve the homeless issue in the lower Cape Fear region by offering programs that positively impact the lives of individuals and transition them into independent living.

  • Soup kitchen serving breakfast and lunch
  • Overnight shelter
  • Day labor referral program
  • Food distribution program called "second helpings"
  • Transitional living program

Church of the Servant Good Shepherd Center (GSC) outreach ministry currently involves dinner preparation, serving, and cleanup for 120 Good Shepherd Center guests on the first Friday evening of each and every month.  We currently have three teams that serve on a rotating basis and more volunteers are needed! We anticipate possible additions to the once-a-month rotations to allow for serving additional evening meals on a regular basis. Please contact us if you are interested in joining a team either as a team leader or team member. The coordinators are Donna and Jim Moriarty: e-mail jamesmoriarty@charter.net or 392-0051.
